LAKE COUNTY ? Construction from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. that blocks one way of Highway 20 between the Nice-Lucerne Cutoff and Government Street in Upper Lake is scheduled to finish in three weeks, CalTrans reported.

The project to widen the shoulder, lengthen Robinson Rancheria Resort & Casino turnouts and improve the slopes off the shoulder will cost fuel taxes about $6.6 million, said Phil Frisbie Jr., CalTrans public information officer.

Drivers can expect 20-minute delays during construction hours on the stretch of Highway 20 until crews finish paving and painting lines in mid-October, Frisbie said. Construction started Sept. 1, 2008.

“Before, if someone had a flat or any emergency there were few places to pull off safely,” Frisbie said.
