LOWER LAKE — Two games of despair were followed by three games of delight for the Lower Lake Trojans, who rallied past the St. Vincent Mustangs 19-25, 18-25, 25-17, 25-18, 15-12 in a North Central League I interlock varsity volleyball match on Tuesday at Lower Lake.

“The first two games were really ugly,” Lower Lake coach Danessa Udy said. “The passing was atrocious.”

Lower Lake also committed the bulk of its 15 service errors in the first two games.

By game three, the Trojans finally were able to pull it together.

“Everybody collectively started to play,” Udy said. “It was almost too late.”

After bouncing back with wins in games three and four, the Trojans and Mustangs went back in forth in game five before Lower Lake finally won it.

“No one was up by more than two points most of the way,” Udy said. “It was exciting to watch.”

Tashee Denson”s 10 kills sparked the Trojans. Veronica Wilder and April Whtie added six kills apiece and Amber Daniels had four aces.

While it wasn”t the prettiest of victories, according to Udy, it still beat the alternative.

“I”ll take a win anytime,” Udy said.

Lower Lake beat St. Vincent in two games to win the junior varsity match.
