Knights top Cards, Play it in Pink raises more than $7,700
KELSEYVILLE — The Kelseyville Knights beat the Clear Lake Cardinals 23-25, 25-19, 25-12, 25-13 in a North Central League I interlock varsity volleyball match Thursday in Kelseyville, but the big winner was the Play it in Pink fundraiser, one that raised more than $7,700 toward breast cancer research.
When gate receipts, which have yet to be totaled, are added in, the total will reach well over $8,000, according to Kelseyville coach Donelle McCallister.
“It was a big success,” she said of the fundraiser.
Kendra Schwegerl”s nine kills and five aces propelled the Knights past the Cardinals. Skyler Olsen and Ashley Mueller added eight kills apiece.
Ryle Gabehart”s five kills paced the Cardinals and Katie Reynolds had 17 assists.
