LAKE COUNTY ? A 47-year-old man veered off Butts Canyon Road in his car and smashed into a utility pole about 6:58 a.m. Friday east of Highway 29, where emergency personnel pronounced him dead, California Highway Patrol stated.
CHP will release his name once they notify his family, according to a CHP press release.
The man was driving west on Butts Canyon Road about 1.5 miles east of Highway 29 at an unknown speed, CHP stated. He drifted off the south edge of the road in the 2008 Ford Edge, overturned and hit a utility pole.
The driver was wearing his seatbelt and the air bag deployed, CHP reported.
CHP is still investigating the crash.
