LOWER LAKE ? A sheriff”s officer found hash oil in a Mountain Dew can and five bags of marijuana in a Burger King bag in a car he pulled over about 4:12 a.m. Saturday in Lower Lake, Lake County Sheriff”s Office stated.

The officer arrested the two men, James Larue of Eureka and Jake Johnson of Fortuna, on suspicion of felony possession of concentrated cannabis, felony possession of marijuana for sale and another felony narcotic charge, said Capt. James Bauman of the sheriff”s office. Larue was also arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor being under the influence of a controlled substance.

The sheriff”s deputy stopped the men at a gas station on Highway 53 near Highway 29 for driving with their lights off, Bauman said. The deputy evaluated and suspected Larue was under the influence. Johnson agreed to have the car searched.

Bauman said the marijuana, stashed in a bag in the trunk, appeared to be packaged for sale, but he didn”t know how much the five bags weighed.

The men bailed out of the county jail Sunday for $10,000 each and are scheduled to appear in court Nov. 20, Bauman said.
