Danny Beckwith, also of Middletown, recovered two fumbles. Clear Lake”s Seth Glazier recovered a fumble and had a sack at Willits. Middletown and Lower Lake each had three sacks in their wins.

Big number — Lower Lake rushed for 374 yards at Upper Lake.

No one goes winless — Kelseyville and Lower Lake won their first games of the season, guaranteeing there will be no winless teams in Lake County in 2009.

From the Mike Hansen files — “Tom Cable wants to go to jail,” Hansen said of the Raiders” head coach. Considering Oakland”s last two games, Hansen”s probably right.

Week 5 is all in the county — Clear Lake hosts Middletown in a battle of 3-1 teams, and Kelseyville hosts Upper Lake in a battle of 1-3 teams on Friday. The county”s fifth team, Lower Lake, is also home to face Cloverdale.

Overheard it at Upper Lake — “It”s like the movie Groundhog Day,” one Cougars fan told another Saturday in Upper Lake. The topic of discussion was the recent run of losing seasons at the school.

Three 3-1 JV teams — Clear Lake, Upper Lake and Middletown all own 3-1 records.

From the Mike Hansen files — “The Raiders use a first-round pick to draft a quarterback with a strong arm and no accuracy one season, then use another first-round pick to draft a fast receiver who can”t catch. Quite a combination.”

Keeping those last names straight — Clear Lake”s Jessica Henson, Kelseyville”s Skyler Olsen.

Watch out for that acronym — On the Record-Bee”s Topix Web site, someone suggested that Lower Lake”s competition committe go by the name Committee to Restore Athletic Pride. We”re guessing that was a tongue-in-cheek suggestion.

Rumor afloat — A certain cross country runner at U.C. Davis is now sporting a modified mohawk hairdo. Dad had no input.

Kudos — To every coach who has to listen to parental ranting and raving and keeps on coaching anyway. Man, I know the feeling.
