* Friends of the Lake County Library will host its annual open house and book sale, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Lakeport Library. There will be books, records, DVDs, CDs and VHS tapes available. For $15, you can purchase a Friends of the Library book bag, plus all the items you can stuff in it. Proceeds benefit Lake County libraries. Please bring your book donations to any branch of the Lake County Library.

Oct. 17:

* Friends of the Middletown Library hosts its semi-annual book fair, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 17 on the front lawn of the Middletown Library, located on the corner of Calistoga and Callayomi streets. Books will be sold by the bag at a bargain price of $5 per bag. A special sale of paperbacks will go for $3 per bag. Items for sale include best sellers, children”s books, mysteries, spy intrigue, romance, cookbooks, self-help, reference, audio tapes, CDs and some surprise offerings. All proceeds are for the purchase of new books and supplies for the library and the new library building fund.

* Clear Lake Performing Arts will hold a garage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Clear Lake Riviera Association building and parking lot on Soda Bay Road. Proceeds benefit CLPA”s many music support programs.
