MIDDLETOWN — The Middletown Mustangs ran headlong into the St. Helena Saints on Wednesday night during a North Central League I interlock varsity volleyball match at Middletown.

“They”re such a great team,” Middletown coach Jennifer Breiner said after the Saints, the undefeated NCL I South leaders, overpowered the Mustangs 25-5, 25-14, 25-20.

“They might miss a ball here or there, but they never have a bad run,” Breiner said of the Saints. “The last game was the best I”ve seen our girls play this season and we still didn”t beat them. We”re just not as consistent as they are.”

Breiner said a lineup error that was her fault led to a total mismatch in game one. Middletown had its regular rotation back out on the court in game two and played much better the rest of the way.

“They”re just really good, they really don”t have a weakness,” Breiner said of the Saints. “Their serving is amazing.”

Kayla Robinson”s six kills, two blocks and four aces led the Mustangs. Jenny McGee added three kills and Haley Tallman had two kills and three aces.

Middletown begins the second half of its NCL I North schedule on Tuesday in Fort Bragg. The Mustangs” final home match of the season is Wednesday against Pacific Union of Angwin.
