After viewing the Clearlake City Council meeting of Oct. 8, I am concerned that we have a mayor in Chuck Leonard with a dastardly, arrogant attitude toward his fellow council members and the public in attendance.

Not only does he still refuse to lead a simple pledge of allegiance to our form of government, but he runs his meetings with intimidation from a heavy-handed gavel. He has been most disrespectful and unfair to the public, as well as the city council members who honored him with a one-year appointment as mayor.

How sad this attitude must be for the council to deal with. As a member of the audience, I feel this attitude toward the public is very embarrassing. In these difficult times, we all need to pull together and not be degraded by an erstwhile dictator.

Hopefully, the council will appoint someone else as mayor for next year and restore professionalism and common courtesy back to city council meetings. We have had enough of Mayor Chuck Leonard”s attitude.
