LAKE COUNTY ?Lake County is scheduled to close escrow Friday on Mount Konocti for a more than 1,500-acre day-use park with trails set to open in May.
Before the park opens, the county will make improvements such as moving a road and creating pedestrian access around a gate at the base of the mountain.
The county will also add signs, parking, benches and tables.
A master management plan committee will start meeting this week to decide on issues such as park use, flora and fauna identifications, restricted access areas and fire management and emergency response plans.
Representatives from equestrian and non-motorized mountain bike groups will be invited to meet with the committee for consideration as park uses.
Committee members will also consider whether dogs will be allowed on the mountain.
The county aims to have a plan by spring or summer.
