CLEARLAKE ? Theft against Southshore Little League (SSLL) was discovered on Nov. 7. More than $3,000 worth of equipment essential to providing a healthy sporting experience to hundreds of children was taken and/or destroyed.
SSLL President Jim Peters called described the incident as devastating to the league. He said the criminal(s) broke into the announcer”s tower and took the public address (PA) system including the microphone, headset and two speakers. The operating box for the score board was also taken as was the transmitter. “We can”t run the scoreboard without the box to operate it,” Peters said.
Additionally, 25 bats, numerous catchers” gloves and two buckets of baseballs and softballs were also taken.
The Clearlake Police Department is actively working the case.
