LAKEPORT ? Judge Richard Martin denied bail Friday for a suspect in the alleged attempted murder of a Lakeport man.

Joshua Wandry, 35, of Rohnert Park remains in custody at the Lake County Jail. Wandry, Deborah James and Thomas Dudney allegedly shot, beat and hogtied Ronald Greiner, 49, on Oct. 20 at the Lakeport man”s home on South Main Street behind the Record-Bee building.

Dudney, 59, of Fulton and Wandry are charged with attempted premeditated murder, aggravated mayhem, torture, simple mayhem, home invasion robbery in concert with another, first-degree burglary, assault with a firearm, assault with a blunt force object, assault likely to product great bodily injury and serious battery.

Three of the charges carry life sentences.

Special allegations that great bodily injury was inflicted and use of a firearm accompany the charges.

Dudney pleaded not guilty to special allegations and all of the charges except simple mayhem in October.

James, 46, of Windsor is charged with premeditated attempted murder, home invasion robbery in concert with another and first-degree burglary. Special allegations that a principal was armed with a firearm in commission of the offense accompany the charges. She was released on a $100,000 bail Nov. 13.

James and Wandry pleaded not guilty to the charges and special allegations Nov. 13.

Wandry”s defense attorney, Stephen Carter said with his client”s charges and record, Wandry”s sentence would exceed 200 years to life. Carter argued that no bail is usually used for more serious cases and that Wandry”s bail should be set at $750,000.

“The intention on the part of the defendants was to kill the victim,” District Attorney Jon Hopkins said.

“Miraculously, he did not die.” Hopkins argued that Wandry should not be allowed bail because of the danger to the victim, that Wandry may “find him and finish the job,” Hopkins said. Martin said given the charges, possible sentencing and that Wandry is “extremely dangerous” to the public, he denied bail.

Hopkins made no offers and the attorneys did not agree to any charges.

Wandry and James are scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. Dec. 4 at the Lake County Superior Court at 255 N. Forbes St. in Lakeport.

Dudney is scheduled to return to court at 8:15 a.m. Monday.
