In his commentary Nov. 11 Lowell Grant asks the question “How long can we sustain this warped system?” He notes that “all empires before ours have failed when they became too confident in their ability to dictate and dominate, as they overextended their boundaries.” He also poses a second question, “How long can we continue this madness before our volunteer military is burned out from fatigue, we finally run out of credit and have to actually face the fact that we are bankrupt, the way the Soviets were forced to in 1989?”

What Mr. Grant doesn”t seem to grasp is that we don”t have a choice. We cannot simply exit the world stage. The Muslim terrorists have declared Jihad (Holy War) on us. They have repeatedly shown that their strategy is to conquer, impose their own warped sense of values and never cede territory. Will Mr. Grant be pleased to live under Shariah Law? To have our women in burkas and other barbaric customs imposed on us, including death for not espousing Islam?

Radical Islamic forces are currently at war in more than 30 countries worldwide, including the Kashmir, portions of Indonesia and Sudan. Their ultimate objective is world dominance. We must continue to resist this onslaught.

I would also like to know why Mr. Grant”s article ran on Nov. 11 ? Veteran”s Day. This seems like a slap in the face to the courageous men and women who have fought to preserve our way of life.

(Editor”s note: The fact that Lowell Grant”s column ran on Veterans Day was purely coincidental.)
