LAKEPORT ? The Lakeport Safeway Pharmacy has scheduled two swine flu shot clinics for Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.
The pharmacy has a limited amount of vaccinations and will give priority to at-risk groups, including people age 11 to 24, internasal mist for people as young as 8, pregnant women and emergency care workers, said Mike Maravich, Lakeport Safeway Pharmacy manager.
“We as pharmacists may pull out priority people and bring them to the front of the line,” Maravich said.
The clinics will run from 1 to 6 p.m. Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, Maravich said. The pharmacy will schedule and announce additional swine flu shot clinics if supplies allow.
The Safeway pharmacy expects to receive another batch of swine flu shots, Maravich said.
The vaccinations cost $15 and the pharmacy will not bill insurance, Maravich said.
North Lake Medical Pharmacy in Lakeport has the vaccine for pregnant women, but has not received vaccinations for the general public, owner and pharmacist Bill Kearney said. Kearney said pregnant women should call 263-1328 and make an appointment for a swine flu shot.
Once the pharmacy gets swine flu vaccinations for the general public, it will start offering shots for priority patients, Kearney said. North Lake Medical Pharmacy will bill patients” insurance for the shot at no charge, and for patients with no insurance it will cost $10.
