I am thinking about the act of giving, soon to be celebrated as a national holiday. Thanksgiving honors generosity between two unfamiliar cultures, and the community spirit which evolved as a result.
Generosity is rarely seen as a show of weakness or submission. Giving has a positive effect on all involved. I hope we can all consider what we would give for a national community whose citizens enjoy a healthy lifestyle, secure from hateful acts bred out of fear and poverty, and the liberty to pursue our interests free from the corruption of greed and exploitation. This gift would be priceless.
