I would like to clear up a few misconceptions in Shirley Howland”s letter Nov. 19. The Bible can seem contradictory but with a study Bible (kjv is best) and Strong”s concordance you cannot be confused. Many Hebrew and Greek words had different meanings than today. For instance, the word nation also meant a flight of locusts and “meat” was not strictly flesh. It was food in general or just “to eat.”

That the Bible was written 2,000 years ago makes no difference. It is still relevant today. Now, the reason Leviticus 18:22 is used is because it”s easy to understand. The cross-reference (CR) verse is Romans 1:27 (but include verses 24-26). And CRs to Romans 1:24 are 1 Corinthians 6:18 and 1 Peter 4:3. Then CR those verses until there”s understanding.

There are many, and many more, verses about “improper lust.” So, not everyone picks and chooses their verses. You say “Leviticus wasn”t the only author who would punish…” but Leviticus was written by Moses. The Bible authors were inspired by God, so these abominations are abominations to God. Still, just because God sees something as an abomination doesn”t mean He hates you. What about John 3:16? And 2 Peter 3:9? As to punishment or death for offenses, likely they were imposed then, but we”re also told everyone has a judgment day.

I”m sorry you see good Christians as prejudiced and hateful. Yet, when the above John and Peter verses are quoted are we then loving people? Many dislike Leviticus 18:22, but it is God”s words not ours. Christians know God loves everyone and Satan is keeping many in darkness. But we are to all work toward perfection.

I”m also sorry you found my letter offensive, but those of us “in-the-know” and who have read National Sunday Law (www.reg6.com) know that everything going on today really is about Revelation. We know the true agendas behind gay marriage, immigration, health care, vaccines, the mortgage crisis, etc.

I encourage anyone confused by the Bible to read a study Bible instead to cross-reference like verses. And Strong”s concordance can be found online for next to nothing. The Bible can be easier to understand. And to read and understand it brings such blessings.
