Book club forming at Wild About Books

CLEARLAKE — A new book club has formed at Wild About Books in Clearlake. The group”s next meeting is at 6 p.m. Dec. 15.

The group is currently reading “Beautiful Boy” by David Sheff. Sheff”s story tells of his teenage son”s addiction to meth. It is a real-time chronicle of the shocking descent into substance abuse and the family”s gradual emergence into hope.

?Driving Miss Daisy” on KPFZ 88.1 FM

LAKE COUNTY — In memory of Joan Holman and Walter Robinson, who both passed away in 2009, KPFZ is presentinf an original radio production of “Driving Miss Daisy” by Alfred Uhry during Thanksgiving week.

The play stars Holman and Robinson and also stars Derrick Harvey. It was originally produced for the stage by Lake County Repertory Theatre and then produced as a radio play. Times and dates of broadcast include 3 to 5 and 9 to 11 p.m. Nov. 26.

?Foreigner” auditions on Dec. 2, 5 and 7

KELSEYVILLE — Lake County Theatre Company (LCTC) is ready to hold auditions for the comedy production “Foreigner” and is rolling out the red carpet for anyone interested in trying their hand at performing on the stage. Auditions are being held at 7 p.m. Dec. 2 and 7 and at noon Dec. 5 at the Methodist Church in Kelseyville, across from the Saw Shop Gallery. If you have questions, feel free to call 279-2595.

Director John Tomlinson said he is a strong supporter of both new and experienced talent and ready to give everybody a chance to be a star. Not only that, anyone interested in assistant directing or producing, set building or painting, makeup, costumes ? anything theater-related ? is encouraged to attend auditions and sign up.

“Foriegner” is a glimpse of a shy man stuck in a resort in Georgia against his better judgment … but that”s not all. There”s an old lady, a sweet young thing and her even younger brother and a bunch of bad guys, all of whom have a very odd impression of our shy hero.

Tickets on sale for ?Nutcracker” production

MIDDLETOWN — The Middletown Dance Alliance is selling tickets to its 2009 full production of the “Nutcracker,” which includes talent from all around Lake County. Performance dates are at 1 and 7 p.m. Dec. 12 and 2 p.m. Dec. 13 at Coyote Valley School in Hidden Valley Lake. Tickets are available at the Parents and Community for Kids (PACK) Community Arts Academy and Middletown Florist in Middletown.
