I have questions that need answering. A week or so ago I thought I read that the Lake County Board of Supervisors passed an ordinance having to do with medical marijuana dispensaries. A few of the points they made were that they (marijuana dispensaries) must be a non-profit organization and that the price of the medicine must only reflect the true expense of growing and processing of the herb. At least that”s the way I understood it as it was reported.
Now, I have three questions:
1. Does a non-profit collect state and local sales tax and pay them to the state and county?
2. If medical marijuana is purchased and used as a medicine, just like other prescription drugs are, then is the county, state or federal government going to force all prescription drug companies to become non-profits and make them price their medicine the same way?
3. Are users of medical marijuana going to be able to write off the expense of the cost of the medicine as well as the mileage he/she drove to purchase it?
