LOWER LAKE — Monique Santana and Skyler Olsen scored 17 points apiece on Friday night to carry the Kelseyville Knights past the Lower Lake Trojans 55-43 in the varsity division at the Lake County Tournament for girls” basketball teams in Lower Lake.
Kelseyville wrapped up the varsity title with the win, improving to 3-0. Even if the Knights lose to Clear Lake in today”s final round, they own the head-to-head tiebreaker over Lower Lake (2-1), which lost its first game. The Trojans finish up with Middletown today (see tournament schedule, this page).
Kelseyville led 20-16 at halftime and gradually pulled away from Lower Lake in the second half. The Trojans did make a run in the fourth quarter to get within four points.
Jonesha Beasley”s 17 points, including two 3-pointers, paced the Trojans.
In the early varsity game on Friday, Middletown picked up its first tournament win and first victory of the season by beating the Upper Lake Cougars 32-23. The Mustangs, now 1-2, meet Lower Lake today in the final round. The Cougars close out tournament play at 1-3.
Jenny McGee”s off-ense (11 points) and defense sparked the Mustangs.
Ashley Arroyo”s 10 points paced the Cougars, who led 14-13 at halftime but were outscored 19-9 in the second half.

Heading into today”s final round of junior varsity play, Clear Lake, Kelseyville, Lower Lake and Middletown are all tied at 2-1. Clear Lake plays Kelseyville in the early game and Lower Lake and Middletown play in the late game.
On Friday, Middle-town beat Upper Lake 29-9 behind nine points from Kayla Farr and five from Ashley Lescher. Shyla Wyman”s six points paced the Cougars, who close out the tournament at 0-4.
Middletown led 14-7 at halftime and 20-9 after three quarters.
In the late JV game, Lower Lake handed Kelseyville its first loss, 39-33, behind 16 points from Danacka Whittington, who also had all four of the Trojans” 3-pointers. Kelsie Shoffeitt had 11 points.
Mary Brown”s nine points, all on 3-pointers, paced the Knights, and Mandy Spitzer added eight.
