While it is certainly heartwarming to hear, or not to hear, of another eager customer losing their life in the Black Friday retail-mania across the country this year, it wouldn”t hurt to keep in mind that a Wal-Mart shopper was trampled to death in the post-Thanksgiving line surge last year. Why? It could be an inescapable beacon that Earth is brimming over ? packed to the gunwales; after all, a billion of us are malnourished already. How disquieting must we then find the U.S. citizen who, earlier this year, gave birth to octuplets ? when she already had six? Isn”t Earth our common home?
