LAKEPORT ? Lakeport City Council members will create a list of promising applicants from the 61 people who applied for city manager, they agreed Tuesday.
The council will meet during an executive session 6 p.m. Tuesday to compare lists and decide whom to interview in January.
“There was a huge interest in the position from all over the country,” acting city manager Kevin Burke said.
Burke recommended the council pick about eight people to interview and another five to keep on hold in case the top applicants aren”t interested in the job.
The council addressed a few other issues at the meeting Tuesday at City Council Chambers.
Council members voted 4-1 to give $2,500 of redevelopment agency funds to Mount Konocti Facilitation. Mayor Pro Tem James Irwin voted no.
Mount Konocti Facilitation provides free business assistance to people in Lake County, mostly to Lakeport businesses, said Susan Harmon, facilitator for the organization. Harmon said the city support will allow the organization to better compete for grants that require community buy-in.
Council members agreed to meet with Daniel Felperin of Fresh Energy Systems Monday to have him inspect City Hall to possibly improve the building”s energy efficiency.
The council unanimously voted to allow Clear Lake Performing Arts to hold its annual wine tasting event June 26 on Park Street.
Council members also unanimously voted to approve the contract between the city and National Grant Services for the company to write grants for the city for parks funding.
