LAKEPORT — A 21-19 halftime lead was but a distant memory for the Clear Lake Cardinals following their 47-31 non-league loss to the Healdsburg Greyhounds in varsity boys” basketabll action Tuesday night in Lakeport.
After going 10-for-28 from the field in the first half, the Cardinals (2-3) turned colder than the temperature outside the Clear Lake gym (about 25 degrees) in the second half.
“We were 3-of-30 in the second half,” Clear Lake coach Glenn Wienke said.
Healdsburg outscored Clear Lake 28-10 in the second half.
“It was a physical game and it got a little out of control,” Wienke said. “I thought they (officials) could have done a better job keeping things under control.”
However, Wienke said he wasn”t blaming the officials for the loss.
“For the most part it was our fault,” he said.
Ryan Richardson”s nine points paced the Cardinals and John Glazier had six.
“We hustled well, we broke the press well, we rebounded well … we were just not shooting well,” Wienke said.
