KELSEYVILLE — The Kelseyville Knights picked up the pace in the second half and knocked off Sonoma Academy 64-49 in a non-league varsity boys” basketball game on Tuesday night in Kelseyville.
The final score wasn”t indicative of the battle the Coyotes put up in the first half. They led 15-10 after one quarter although the Knights had moved in front by halftime at 29-26.
“We were pretty sluggish,” Kelseyville coach Scott Conrad said. “We went with a different starting lineup and were a little out of sync.”
Kelseyville led 50-39 after three quarters although the lead never felt comfortable, according to Conrad.
“We”d get up by 10, relax, and they would close to five or six,” Conrad said.
Peter Wotherspoon”s 16 points paced the Knights (3-1). Max Huff added a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds, Steven Grossner had 10 points and Mike Allen chipped in eight points and a team-best four assists.
Kelseyville returns to action Thursday against College Prep of Oakland in the opening round of the Upper Lake Tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. (see schedule above).
