LOWER LAKE — Transition baskets initiated by Lower Lake”s defense made the difference in the fourth quarter as the Trojans pulled away to beat Justin-Siena 65-52 in a non-league varsity boys” basketball game Monday night at Lower Lake.
The two teams entered the fourth quarter tied at 42.
“In the fourth I thought we played real solid defense that led to some (easy) transition baskets,” Lower Lake coach Marty Udy said. “Up to that point we had to work for everything we got, so mixing in a few transition baskets definitely helped.”
Calling it the best team effort by the Trojans (3-1) this season, Udy said his players “shared the ball and played together.”
Forrest Davis scored 16 points, Jaymen Richardson added 13 and Gage Carlson had 10 for the Trojans. Joe Taylor chipped in with eight.
Justin-Siena led the seesaw game 32-31.
The Trojans are off until Thursday when they play host Healdsburg in the opening round of the Redwood Empire Invitational at 8:30 p.m. in Healdsburg.
