I have never been so ashamed of Americans as I am today. A 90-year-old veteran who won the Medal of Honor for action in Italy in May of 1944 has been asked to remove his flagpole by the homeowners” association where he lives in Virginia.

They have stated that they will take legal action against him. I truly hope that he will take action and fight them. He is a retired Lt. Colonel.

My husband gave 22 years of his life to the United States Navy and all citizens of America, too.

With all my heart I pray that the veterans rise up against such actions to take this man”s freedom away that was fought for at such a cost in blood, sweat and heartache.

Japan shows respect for the World War II bombings every year. The whole country stops in the memory of all who were lost. The United States does nothing to honor Dec. 7, 1941 or the ending on Aug. 14, 1945.

Citizens have become dormant in remembrance, without a grateful heart, which has been given to all in these United States of America, by so many.

It may be just that this country is lost due to the cold indifference for those who gave so much and all those who are now putting their life on the line for our country, which is procrastinating, by all reports from the high command.

I was pleased to see on a later news broadcast that the homeowners” association backed down. The flagpole is to remain.
