I admire President Obama”s fight to the finish for the reduction of medical costs for all Americans. One of the most important changes should be for him to place a ban on prescription advertising on television. It”s every five minutes, 24-hours a day on every TV channel in America; an absolute waste of money.

I understand that most European countries have this ban in place. Pharmaceutical companies are purposely spending millions, if not billions, on prescription advertising. They do not care about their cost because they merely raise drug prices to cover their costs.

It is absolutely stupid advertising, because only doctors can make decisions to prescribe medications. And it is insulting to doctors across America. They make it sound like doctors do not know every medication that exists.

I”ll bet that if the president would get this ban placed, consumer prices for prescription medications would probably drop 20 percent.
