LOWER LAKE — The stage is set for a winner-take-all finale in the junior varsity division today as the 16th annual Record-Bee Hoop Classic wraps up at Lower Lake High School.

Both the Middletown Mustangs and Clear Lake Cardinals won on Friday to set up today”s showdown between the two teams at 4:30 p.m.

Middletown beat Kelseyville 45-21 on Friday to improve to 3-0 in the JV standings. Meanwhile Clear Lake knocked off Upper Lake 60-43 to improve to 2-1.

It”s the second straight year the two teams have met on the final day of the tournament with the title riding on the line. Middletown defeated Clear Lake for the championship last season.

Clear Lake 60, Upper Lake 43

Adrian Perez scored 13 points and Steven Edwards had 12 to lead the Cardinals past the Upper Lake Cougars, who were never closer than 10 points in the second half.

Joe Valdez provided some spark to the Upper Lake offense with 20 points in his first tournament game.

Middletown 45, Kelseyville 21

The Middletown Mustangs used a 15-6 third quarter to break open a competitive game and beat the Kelseyville Knights, who close out tournament play at 2-2.

Luke Humphrey”s 13 points led the Mustangs, D.J. Brookshire added 10 and Nick Delia had nine.

Deven Call”s 12 points paced the Knights.
