LAKE COUNTY — California Highway Patrol officers are looking for the person who dumped a 1989 Chevrolet Suburban in the woods off Highway 175 just north of Western Pine Road near Loch Lomond.

The silver-blue Suburban was left before Monday evening about 40 feet off the road near a pullout, CHP reported. The vehicle was missing a front axel and its engine.

CHP officers think another vehicle towed the Suburban into the woods, killing some trees.

“The action of abandoning a vehicle is illegal, but in this case it is so much more,” CHP said. “The dumping of a vehicle in this manner destroys trees

and other plants. If the vehicle were to leak any fluids, it could be even more damaging to the environment.”

CHP asks that people with information on the Suburban or its illegal dumping call Officer Paarsch at 279-0103.
