Does private insurance treat you fairly?

While I would agree that very few people have read the proposed health care legislation, it seems that the Republicans lead the pack in that regard. From “death panel” fear-mongering to the same old worn out “big government” rhetoric they have resorted once again to distorting the truth. What motivates “the party of no” to such deplorable tactics? Why, the deep pockets of the insurance companies, of course! To say that tort reform should be the primary inclusion to hold health care costs down is ludicrous. The high cost of health care isn”t due to lawyers, it”s due to insurance company profits. Of course they don”t want a public option because obviously, it would be cheaper than any policy they could offer. In spite of this, the public option now appears to be dead. Even the Medicare buy-in at 55 appears to be dead. So now we”re back to business-as-usual, which suits the insurance companies – thank you very much.

How efficiently our government works! Make that government of the corporations, by the corporations, and for the corporations. The people don”t have a damn thing to do with it. To those who say, “No public option period. I don”t want more government in my life,” I would ask, do you collect Social Security? Do you have Medicare? If so you can thank the Democrats for those “big government” policies. The Republicans opposed both of them with fear-mongering and slimy propaganda just as they are opposing health care reform today – propelled by lots of cash for their re-election campaigns. Ask yourself this: Do you really think that a private insurance company is going to treat you more fairly than the U.S. government? Have they so far?
