OMAK, Wash. ? Police detained and released a woman in the death of a 24-year-old Lake County woman after an altercation about 1:45 a.m. Thursday in Omak, Wash.
Heather Daniel Anderson of Nice died about 4 a.m. Thursday in Mid-Valley Hospital in Omak, in northeast Washington, said Investigator Dave Everett with Colville Tribal Police.
Everett said he could not release the other woman”s name.
Anderson and the woman got into an altercation in front of a house at Lone Pine Housing in Omak, Everett said. Police and FBI are still investigating the case as a homicide to learn what happened early that morning.
Law enforcement is unsure if a weapon was involved, Everett said. Police are also unsure if alcohol or drugs played a role.
The other woman sustained some injuries from the altercation but was released from the hospital, Everett said.
Everett said he thinks Anderson was visiting friends in Omak.
The FBI has jurisdiction of felony crimes on American Indian Reservations, so it is taking part in the investigation, said Agent Frank Harrill of the FBI.
