Winter Music Fest applications due by Jan. 7
LAKEPORT — The Lake County Arts Council is hosting auditions on Jan. 16 for the 17th annual Winter Music Fest. Applications are available at the Main Street Gallery, 325 N. Main St. in Lakeport, or at www.lakecountyartscouncil.com.
You must return your completed application by Jan. 7 in order for organizers to schedule a time for your audition. For more information, contact the Main Street Gallery at 263-6658. Performances take place Feb. 27 and 28 in the Soper-Reese Community Theatre.
Poetry Out Loud recitation contest for teens
LAKE COUNTY — The Lake County Arts Council is participating again in Poetry Out Loud (POL), a national recitation contest sponsored through a partnership with the California Arts Council, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Poetry Foundation and state and jurisdictional arts agencies of the United States.

Kids 4 Broadway holds auditions on Jan. 7

?Creative Expressions” welcomes local writers
LAKE COUNTY — Three local writers are seeking your original poems and stories (under 700 words long) to publish in “Creative Expressions,” a publication that appears on the second and fourth Saturday each month in the Lake County Record-Bee. “Creative Expressions” is a unique opportunity for Lake County writers of all ages to publish original work.
Each issue is edited by three Lake County writers: Sandra Wade, Lourdes Thuesen and Mary McMillan, who will solicit and select the work to be published. If your work is selected, it will appear in the weekend edition of the newspaper.
Poems and stories of any kind or theme are welcome. Please send them to mtmcmillan@mac.com in the body of your email. In the subject line, put “CE Submission.”
Do you want to be the next poet laureate?
LAKE COUNTY — Lake County Poet Laureate Mary McMillan is accepting applications for Lake County Poet Laureate 2010-2012.
Any Lake County resident can apply for the position or nominate someone they think would do a good job. Here is how to apply:
1. Collect up to eight of your original poems (10 pages maximum).
2. Ask another poet to write a letter of recommendation for you.
3. Write a statement describing how you have served Lake County”s literary community in the past, and how you”d like to serve the community as Poet Laureate.
4. If any of your poems have been published, list their titles and the names of the publications and dates they were published.
Send five copies of each of these items in one package to Mary McMillan, P.O. Box 1236, Kelseyville, CA 95451. Send your application before Jan. 15, 2010.
