CLEARLAKE ? Roy Dean Jewell, 52, of Clearlake was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs after crashing his car on Austin Road Saturday. Jewell, allegedly became combative with emergency rescue personnel prior to his arrest.
Lake County Fire Protection District responded around 8 p.m. to a report of a vehicle in a ditch, possibly overturned with one trapped inside. Paramedic Marc Hill said the report was more dramatic than the actual incident. The vehicle was not overturned and extrication was not required, he said.
When rescue personnel arrived on scene, Jewell allegedly resisted their efforts to assist him from the vehicle. Consequently, Clearlake Police was summoned. Officers determined Jewell to be intoxicated and he was placed under arrest.
