LAKEPORT ?Authorities responded to a home at Lakeside Village Mobile Home Park on Lakeshore Boulevard around 8:30 p.m. Monday after a woman reported her husband was shot. No suspect is in custody.

Lake County Sheriffs arrived to find Marshall Wisterman, 35, formerly of Lower Lake, lying in the hallway of his home. The deputy said the victim was conscious, alert and breathing. “Looks like one gunshot wound to the stomach,” he said upon dispatch”s request for patient condition.

As the area was being secured, Lakeport Fire Department medics were released from their staging position and summoned into the scene. They stabilized the patient for transport and took him to Sutter Lakeside Hospital where REACH 6 was waiting for aerial transport to an out-of-county medical center. Medics were reported en route at 8:50 p.m.

Detectives with the Sheriff”s Major Crime Unit were called out to the scene to assist with the investigation. Officers from Lakeport Police Department also responded. According to Sheriff Captain Jim Bauman, preliminary information obtained at the revealed that an unidentified man had apparently come to Wisterman”s home and was allowed inside to talk to him.

According to Captain Bauman, the conversation between Wisterman and the visitor began to escalate into an argument. Wisterman took the man outside in effort to remove the confrontation from the presence of his wife and children when a single gunshot was heard.

“It is believed the shooting occurred in or near one of the carports,” Bauman stated. “The suspect was gone on the deputies” arrival and it is unclear at this point what the argument was about or how Wisterman got back into his home after being shot.”

Sheriff personnel processed the crime scene throughout the night and at about 3:30 a.m. when the scene was cleared, no suspect was in custody. The shooting is pending further investigation and Wisterman”s condition was believed to be critical at the time of the sheriff”s information release.

No other details are available for release at this time.
