ESPARTO — Michael Davis is out with a knee injury, Steven Grossner is out with a wrist injury, Wyatt Farrell is out with an ankle injury and Justin Ashworth is sidelined with a shoulder injury.
“I”ve never seen anything like it,” Kelseyville High School varsity boys” basketball coach Scott Conrad said after the Knights — or what”s left of them — beat Esparto 65-39 in a non-league game on Wednesday night in Esparto.
Peter Wotherspoon scored 23 points, Max Huff added 18 and Michael Allen had 14 for the Knights, who made the most of their size advantage against a smaller Esparto squad.
“We pounded it in to Max and Mike,” Conrad said. “We actually missed a lot of shots early but we started making them in the second half.”
Kelseyville (7-6) led 20-12 after one quarter and 33-24 at halftime.
With a good portion of his squad on the disabled list, Conrad beefed up the roster by promoting Devon Call from the junior varsity squad. He scored seven points in his varsity debut.
“He might be up and down a little bit, we”ll have to see how things go,” Conrad said.
Wotherspoon, the Knights” leading scorer on the season, had one of his better shooting nights, according to Conrad.
“Pete really shot the ball well, probably his best shooting game so far,” Conrad said.
The Knights resume their NCL I interlock schedule on Friday when they travel to Cloverdale.
