LAKEPORT ? A Lakeport police officer made a routine stop and search of a man on parole and another man with a warrant about 11:15 p.m. Monday and found stolen marijuana, smoking pipes and less than $20 from marijuana dispensary Visions of Avatar, which had been robbed less than an hour earlier.
Officer Jake Steely of Lakeport police arrested Reginald Mills, 21, and Brandon Saulter, 19, both of Lakeport, said Lt. Brad Rasmussen of Lakeport police. The men were booked into Lake County Jail on suspicion of first-degree burglary, possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools.
Rasmussen said possession of marijuana charges may be added later.
Steely noticed the men walking down South Main Street near Highway 175 and recognized Mills as a parolee and stopped to talk with him. The officer identified Saulter and learned he was wanted for a misdemeanor warrant. Steely searched the men and found the stolen loot, including more than a pound and a half of marijuana, a scale, T-shirts and less than $20.
Police called the Lake County Sheriff”s Office as Visions of Avatar is outside the city limits, Rasmussen said.
Capt. Jim Bauman of LCSO said one of the men admitted he pried back the tin siding about 10:30 p.m. to gain access to the dispensary and stole pipes, rolling papers and marijuana in a lock box. The other suspect wouldn”t give officers information.
Bauman would not release which man talked.
