KELSEYVILLE ? A sheriff and district attorney candidate forum starting 6 p.m. Monday open for only law enforcement and media will be broadcast on 88.1 FM to allow the public access.

Law enforcement agencies set up the event so that employees could have their questions answered, said Sgt. Brian Martin of the Lake County Sheriff”s Office.

“We understand that there is a mountain of issues at hand for all of the candidates to sort through concerning matters of great importance to the general public,” Martin said. “This is not to say that any of those issues don”t matter to us, and, like many residents in Lake County, a great number of our employees anxiously await to hear the candidates respond to those issues.

“Some, if not many of our concerns as employees are likely quite different from those of the public. Allowing the general public to attend this meeting would greatly increase the likelihood that our concerns were not addressed, and that the meeting would be steered in a different direction.”

Martin said candidates should be available after the forum to answer questions from the media.
