We should all applaud and support the Lake County Board of Supervisors” decision to notify the State Attorney General, the DEA and the FAA of the misappropriation of funds for private helicopter lessons as reported in Wednesday”s Record-Bee.

County roads are being left not repaired as unthinkable financial reductions are being forced upon education, the elderly and the disabled, while state and local law enforcement agencies have continuously grown more expensive to the point of stressing taxpayer-funded coffers.

This unbridled expansion reminds me of the 1980s movie “The Little Shop of Horrors” in which a plant is fed to the point of eating its own caretaker.

Thomas Jefferson once stated, “When too much freedom is sacrificed in the name of security a society risks losing both.”
