LAKEPORT — The Golden State Electric Challenge hosted by Lakeport Hobbies Raceway takes place Saturday and Sunday, rain or shine, inside the Anderson Building at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Lakeport.

More than $6,000 in cash and prizes will be given away as more than 50 radio control vehicle enthusiasts pit their skills against each other in six classifications during the two-day event.

Factory team drivers from Los Angeles will arrive as early as today to test and tune their RC Vehicles on the Lakeport Hobbies Raceway”s newly designed track.

Local Lake County driver Scott Parady from Cobb Mountain broke records in 2-wheel drive Truck, 2-wheel drive Buggy, and 2-wheel drive Short Course in 2009 and has a good chance to challenge Factory Team drivers from Southern California for top positions in this weekend”s event.

Going on nearly four years, Lakeport Hobbies and Lakeport Hobbies Raceway has put radio control racing on the map in Lake County as it accommodates beginners to experts.

After this weekend”s event, racing resumes each Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The public is invited to attend the Golden State Electric Challenge as well as all regular Sunday races. Rentals are available on weekends.
