Clear Lake 31, St. Helena 13

At St. Helena, though a 9-6 first half held little in the way of excitement and even less in the way of scoring, the Clear Lake Cardinals ratcheted up the intensity in the second half in their NCL I South win over the St. Helena Saints.

“The biggest difference was just getting the ball inside (to Kim Asbury and Briana Campbell),” Clear Lake coach Kory Reynolds said.

Asbury scored eight of her 10 points in the second half as the Cardinals completed the first half of their league schedule at 3-1. They trail only Cloverdale (3-0).

“The kids are kind of excited,” Reynolds said with an eye toward his team”s rematch with Cloverdale on Tuesday in Cloverdale. “We”re preparing for Cloverdale. Hopefully we can go down there and surprise them a little bit.”

Morgan Psalmonds also scored 10 points for the Cardinals, including a 3-pointer in the third quarter.

Clear Lake travels to Lower Lake on Friday for an NCL I interlock game with the Trojans. Tip-off is 6 p.m.
