LAKE COUNTY ? The alleged theft of a handful of sugar packets, tools, electronics and medication landed six Lake County residents in jail last weekend on suspicion of burglary and robbery.
Steven Woosley, 44, of Lucerne allegedly demanded entry about 10:20 a.m. Saturday to Mary Lou”s Sandwiches in Lucerne, where he had previously been banned, Capt. Jim Bauman of the Lake County Sheriff”s Office said. Woosley struggled with the owner over control of the front door, overpowered the owner and allegedly took a handful of sugar packets and fled. The owner was not harmed.
A LCSO officer found Woosley and arrested him on suspicion of felony robbery and burglary with a $25,000 bail, Bauman said.
Also on Saturday, LCSO deputies served an arrest warrant on David Peters, 46, of Hidden Valley Lake for allegedly stealing about $3,000 worth of tools and construction equipment Jan. 15 from a nearby home, Bauman said. Officers recovered most of the stolen property from Peters” home the day the burglary was reported, but couldn”t find him until Saturday.
Deborah Marrone, 46, told deputies Peters wasn”t home, but after a search they found him hiding in a large box, Bauman said.
Deputies booked Peters into the Lake County Jail for first-degree burglary and resisting arrest with a $10,000 bail, Bauman said. Marrone was booked for felony accessory and misdemeanor resisting arrest with a $10,000 bail.
On Friday, deputies responded about 1:45 p.m. to the Chalet Motel on Lakeshore Boulevard in Lakeport and found a Clearlake man and woman who had allegedly ransacked the woman”s room and took her things to a parked car, Bauman said.
Officers detained Kimberly Hansen, 30, and Steven Gibson, 41, for allegedly stealing $6,300 worth of electronics, medication and other property from the woman”s motel room, Bauman said. Officers found the woman”s property in the car and a motel room rented by Lawrence Jelks, 62, of Lakeport, who was also at the scene.
All three gave officers conflicting stories of how they gained possession of the stolen property, Bauman said.
Hansen was booked on felony charges of burglary, grand theft, receiving stolen property, and a misdemeanor charge of being under the influence of a controlled substance with a $4,500 bail, Bauman said. Gibson was booked on felony charges of grand theft, receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor charges of possessing narcotics paraphernalia, and being under the influence of a controlled substance with a $35,000 bail.
