KENTFIELD — Clear Lake High School just missed on Saturday during the 10th annual Dawn 2 Dusk wrestling tournament at Marin Catholic High School in Kentfield.

The Cardinals finished in second place, just one point behind team champion Ukiah High School.

Leading the way for the Cardinals was 121-pound champion Jake Humble and second-place finishers Brandon Holt (132 pounds), Robby Hammers (147) and Matt Lockwood (162).

Other top Clear Lake finishers were Derek Larsen, who was third at 173 pounds; Ryan Blyleven, fourth at 114 pounds; Rodney Henson, fifth at 137 pounds; Mike Reynolds, fifth at 191 pounds; and Alex Andrews, sixth at 127 pounds.

Two Upper Lake wrestlers also took part in the competition and did well enough to garner the Cougars an eighth-place finish.

Fwee Chao won the 105-pound decision and was a unanimous choice for the tournament”s outstanding lightweight award.

“Fwee just represents himself and his sport phenomenally,” Upper Lake coach Tom Cox said.

Also from Upper Lake, Ben Britten finished fourth at 162 pounds.

Clear Lake travels to Point Arena for a Coastal Mountain Conference tri-team meet on Wednesday. Middletown will also participate. Upper Lake travels to Lower Lake on Wednesday and to the Mission San Jose tourney on Friday.
