FREMONT — Upper Lake High School 140-pounder Brandon Sneathen won his first two matches on Friday at the prestigious Mission San Jose Invitational Wrestling Tournament in Fremont.
Sneathen, the No. 2 seed, opened the tournament by pinning Antonio Valdez of San Leandro in the second round. He then advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-4 decision over Nathan Ellebracht of Mission San Jose High School.
Still alive in the consolation bracket going into today”s final rounds are Upper Lake”s Fwee Chao at 103 pounds and Travis Coleman at 112 pounds; and Clear Lake”s Matt Lockwood at 160 pounds Derek Larsen at 171 pounds.
The top six wrestlers in each of the 14 weight divisions receive medals.
