We are Lucerne FLOW, Friends of Locally Owned Water, a 501(c)(3) non-profit local group. All our members are volunteers and receive no wages or compensation. Our goal is to help improve the community of Lucerne.
We help seniors, disabled citizens and the Lucerne Senior Center. We have helped with yard cleanups, especially with large items; we are also starting Community Garden, intending to donate any extra produce to the Lucerne Senior Center and needy families.
Our No. 1 mission is to obtain clean, affordable water for our community. To do this, we must become a Community Service District with LAFCO (Local Agency Formation Commission of Lake County). The fee for this application will be about $15,000, which does not include any professional help that we will need. After we become a Community Service District, we can then apply for grants to help us with such things as replacing our 80,000 feet of crumbling water lines and obtaining public control of our water system. The latest EPA rating of our water system was 36 out of 100, with 100 being the best.
All of our activities do cost money. Anything you can do to help us with our mission will be greatly appreciated.
