The Tea Party movement is gaining strength in this country. It is fueled by patriots throughout the nation that believe in minimalist government, action that carries the spirit of our founding fathers and the principles set forth by the U.S. Constitution supporting a free market.
This movement is not part of the Republican Party, but it is embraced by it. Democrats, Independents, liberals, and conservatives to are drawn to this movement by its simplicity, honesty and common sense. There is no leader of the groups, they are grass roots organizations and the call to action comes from the group and flows upward, not from the top down.
I am proud to say there are now over 150 groups, large and small, throughout the state of California, meeting and supporting candidates that follow these same common sense principles. And the good news is, a small group has formed here in Lake County, and it is growing. We will be holding a rally on George Washington”s birthday, Feb. 22, on the lawn in front of the old courthouse in Lakeport. The rally will be from 4:30 p.m. until dark.
