We are now close to passing effective health care reform legislation. I stand by President Obama in calling on Congress to finish the job immediately.
Too many who can pay their own way are now saying that we should delay or give up reform entirely, but “those other Americans” like myself, understand the imperative action needed for our economy, as well as for our lives.
A new federal study shows that health care spending rose to an estimated $2.5 trillion in 2009, or $8,047 per person, and is now projected to nearly double by 2019. It makes responsible fiscal sense to create positive change straightaway rather than to wait any longer.
We call for action today and we speak for those who have died waiting for America to be a just society for all; seeing to it that health care is not denied any American based on their inability to pay.
