“We came out in a zone to start the game and it proved to be a mistake,” Clear Lake coach Jennifer Goff said of the hot-shooting Saints, who bombed away from the outside to take a 26-6 lead.
“They”re also a very good free-throw shooting team and they scored a lot of points from the line,” Goff said.
Katie Reynolds scored 19 points to lead the Cardinals, including four 3-pointers. No other Clear Lake player had more than three points.
St. Helena led 41-18 at halftime and 56-27 after three quarters.
Either Clear Lake or Upper Lake will be the No. 4 seed in the NCL I South postseason tournament, which opens next Thursday at St. Vincent High School in Petaluma. Upper Lake (1-5) has two league games remaining (tonight in Cloverdale and Tuesday at home against St. Helena).
Either Clear Lake or Upper Lake will face South champion Cloverdale in the first round of the postseason tournament.
