Lowell Grant”s Feb. 10 column is another example of why I am flying my flag at half-mast in distress for our country. Grant has come out of the closet to reveal he is a dyed-in-the-wool lockstep liberal Democrat. In the past his opinions started out with slanted factual points with mixed in jabs at conservatives, Republicans and anyone else who does not march in lockstep with his liberal hindsight views.

I have no objections to his absolute deep-seated progressive put downs of anyone or thing that believes in supporting our republic with its Constitution and as a taxpayer, but my opinion develops from a family history of supporting my country, its history, and greatness in war and peace. My grandfather (a farmer, store owner, and private in the Civil War on the side of the North) told me that when I was old enough to vote and serve in the military that I should be a good Democrat but to always vote for the best person that would keep our country free, not always a Democrat. As a Democrat I paid my taxes and served in the military for 27 years. I have tried to follow in grandpa”s footsteps, but I am very concerned my children and grandchildren may not have the same country that I have had for 81 years. Like many articles in the Record-Bee, teachers, high school students and Mr. Grant do not recognize that our Congress is made up of senators and representatives and not senators and congressmen. Grant spreads his math facts over a cake of Democrat mis-information that it was the Republicans that forced us into a near depression, when it was Democratic leaders like Barney Frank out to buy votes forcing lenders to make sub-prime house loans to buyers that could never make the monthly payments! Now our flim-flam president, along with liberal/socialist-leaning Democrats and Mr. Grant, are dumping our tax dollars into keeping lenders rich. In fact, the Democrats are now allowing the banks to rip off all depositors by paying extremely low interest rates on their deposits while lending the banks taxpayer dollars at extremely low rates to give banks higher profits to make up for all the bad sub-prime loans lenders were forced by Congress to make. To make matters worse these Democrats are going out to China and other countries and obtaining loans at higher interest rates to pay for the borrowed money they are lending banks at lower rates. Why doesn”t Mr. Grant use his golden pen to attack the Democrats” lack of business math? Do we have to send all politicians back to school or just stop voting for politicians that want to buy votes by redistributing our hard-earned assets? Going back to work at real jobs will give politicians a new outlook at the taxpayer”s deposits they were elected to protect. Why not pay American depositors for the loan of their money?
