CLEARLAKE OAKS — Animal Coalition of Lake County (ACLC) entertained a packed house Friday during its Sweetheart Dinner and Dance at the Moose Lodge in Clearlake Oaks. More than $10,000 was garnered for all for the animals.
Friday”s entire event was sponsored by Dave Moses and Alternative Solutions of Clearlake Oaks making 100 percent of the evening”s proceeds profit for the ACLC.
“Dave has been a constant supporter of our organization. It was his generous contribution that made this evening possible,” Rita Doyle, ACLC vice president said. “He paid for everything, from the venue to the entertainment and food, leaving us with no overhead on this event. I can”t even begin to describe how generous he has been.”
Moses said the credit is not all his. “It”s our collective members who choose to support this organization,” he said. “They feel it is a very, very worthwhile cause.”
Moses was beside himself with the success of the fundraiser. “This event is spectacular! It”s full. A lot of people showed up, which shows that this organization is well-supported,” he said. “This is going to raise a lot of much-needed funds to support this organization that helps people take care of their animals.”
Doyle”s praises were unending, thanking the numerous contributors to the silent auction, the *Expletive Old Guys (FOGs) who manned the kitchen and those who helped foster animals. “Everyone who helps is so appreciated, because we really need the help,” she said. “Coming up here on two months, we will have fostered 103 animals.”
Doyle”s praises include those extended to Clearlake Animal Control Officer Lee Lambert, who was in attendance. “It takes passion and he”s really done a good job,” Doyle said, adding that he deserves a raise.
Friday”s crowd was a diverse representation of Lake County”s active community. It was attended by area veterinarians, medical doctors, Lake County Community Action Agency administration, an officer of Lake County Animal Care and Control, district supervisors, fire personnel, animal rescuers, a Clearlake City councilmember, Shriners, Moose members, Soroptimists, American Legion and Lakeshore Lions and Lioness members and so many more.
Guests danced the night away to the sounds of “Twice as Good” and were treated to a special appearance by dance instructors Larry and Zoe Richardson of Antoinette”s Dance Studio in Lakeport, who showcased talents with spins and dips that inspired the crowd to get up and shake it.
ACLC is dedicated to reducing the euthanasia rate in Lake County by providing spay/neuter assistance to senior and low-income pet owners. The organization has also taken on the challenge of finding foster homes for dogs and cats in conjunction with the City of Clearlake”s decision to assume the duties of animal control.
