LAKE COUNTY — The Lake County Agriculture Department will discuss its response and detection plan for an invasive moth found in Napa County that feeds on grapes and other fruit during a public meeting next week.

The Agriculture Department will hold the meeting from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 26 at Finley Grange at 1510 Big Valley Road in Finley.

The Napa County Department of Agriculture found the European grapevine moth in the Oakville region of Napa County. The moth has never been detected before in the United States.

The Napa department is working with USDA and the California Department of Food and Agriculture to trap and survey to see if there are additional moths and larvae. The moth primarily feeds on the flowers and fruit of grapes, but also feed on olives, blackberries, cherries, nectarines, persimmons and pomegranates.
