MIDDLETOWN — The Middletown High School junior varsity girls” basketball team clinched the outright North Central League I North championship with a thrilling 35-34 victory over the Willits Wolverines on Tuesday night in Middletown.
It was the season finale for both teams.
Middletown finishes the 2009-10 season 7-1 in league and 17-8 overall.
Amber Hart led the Mustangs with 14 points, including a 3-pointer. She also had eight rebounds and three assists. Ashley Lescher and Kayla Farr added nine points apiece.
Middletown took an 18-17 lead into halftime. The Mustangs outscored the Wolverines 13-4 in the third quarter only to be outscored 13-4 by Willits in the fourth quarter.
The Mustangs won their final five league games.
